14th-Century Storybook Republished With Stunning Illustration
‘Lĩnh Nam Chích Quái’ re-published to wide acclaim
To celebrate its 60th anniversary, famed local publishing house Kim Đồng has released a new edition of ‘Lĩnh Nam chích quái’, a compendium of traditional Vietnamese folk tales complete with beautiful new illustrations.
Comparable with Grimms’ Fairy Tales for European and Western audiences, 'Lĩnh Nam chích quái' is the foundation of Vietnamese children’s bedtime stories and is beloved by most locals.
This latest edition is aimed at adults and has been lovingly illustrated by artist Ta Huy Long, who has used distinct ‘key’ colours to bring each of the 30-plus traditional Vietnamese tales alive.
