Crazy Monkey Creates Stunning Visual For Son Tung M-TP
VJ Le Thanh Tung collaborates with singer on live performance of new song ‘Lac Troi’
We speak to Saigon based visual artist Le Thanh Tung aka “Crazy Monkey” about his collaboration with the most famous singer in Vietnam at the moment.
How did this collaboration between you and Son Tung M-TP come about?
Crazy Monkey:I got a call from music producer Nguyen Ham Long, aka Long Halo, about 2 weeks ago. He asked me to work on a visual for a “very important” event by Son Tung, and gave no other details!
What was it like working with the most famous singer in the country right now?
Crazy Monkey: Before we had the chance to work together, I was of course following him via the internet. As an artist, I think he possesses an admirable boldness given his youth, but is necessary to create “stories” in showbiz. When the opportunity arose, I was surprised by the change in his fashion choices and his more mature music direction, so I was completely hooked.
What is the inspiration for your visual during Son Tung’s live performance of Lac Troi?
Crazy Monkey: This inspiration for this visual was taken from the big idea that Son Tung and his team had for Lac Troi, and it fits very well with the sound of the song. I chose to use imagery like the Vietnamese red-lacquer, as well as the shape of the wooden pagodas in the North to enhance the spirit of this song.
