Dogma 2017: Open Call
Biennial Award Open to Vietnamese Portraiture Artists Everywhere
Anything that promotes art in Vietnam, we’re behind. The Dogma Award does exactly that, aimed specifically at Vietnamese artists, no matter where they are, especially in the category of self-portraiture. Established in 2009, the prize is funded by the independent Dogma Collection, with 2017 marking the fifth time it’s been presented. Explaining the awards’ focus, their website says this; ‘Self Portraiture has a distinguished history throughout human civilisation, and involves those practiced in self-expression providing their views on themselves, as a metaphor for the cultures and societies in which they live.’
Far from being a ‘best selfie contest’, this is one serious competition. The winner, judged by a panel including art world hitters Q.Le, Bui Kim Dinh and Arlette Quynh-Anh Tran - all respected figures in the industry - will take home VND150million in cash, an invitation to attend dOCUMENTA in Germany AND a curated solo show in Ho Chi Minh City. Shortlisted entrants will win the opportunity to have their work displayed at a group exhibition in Hanoi in May this year.
Information on how to enter is available at www.dogmaprize.vn Good Luck!
