Five Vietnamese Artists To Participate in Venice Biennale 2017
“Personal Structures” exhibition part of 'the Olympics of contemporary art’
Five local artists, all represented by Hanoi’s Cuc Gallery, will fly the flag for Vietnam at the Venice Biennale, otherwise known as 'the Olympics of the contemporary art world'. It’s an event that will this year bring together artists, gallery owners and collectors from 89 different countries in a series of cultural events held in Venice, Italy. The exhibition "Personal Structures" is organized by the European Cultural Center and GAA Foundation, and will feature work by Nguyen Trung, Do Hoang Tuong, Ly Tran Quynh Giang, Nguyen Son, and Tulip Duong.
The exhibition delves into each artists personal definitions of time, space, and existence, with each mining their own personal depths of what it means to be an artist, dealing with the restrictions confronting women in contemporary Vietnamese life, and the role of art in society. “Personal Structures” will run from May 11 through November 26th at the European Cultural Centre in Venice, Italy.
