Lotus Long Thanh Airport Design Gets Go-Ahead
Vietnam’s national symbol wins after consultation period
The Lotus Flower features heavily throughout the design chosen for Ho Chi Minh City’s second international airport to be built in Long Thanh.
After a consultation process involving nine different designs which were put on public display in Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Ha Noi, as well as online, the lotus design option 3 was favoured by the Vietnam Construction Association and the government. Other options included a sparrow shaped rooftop and another resembling a bamboo tree.
The interior includes a modern, atrium-style departures area and plenty of space to relax and shop in when you’re waiting for your next international flight. Well done to all concerned, glad to see this one getting ‘off the ground’. Thank you, we worked hard on that last line. Check out the 3D flyover vid below.
