New Collection from Hey Camel Ceramics
Handmade products for the home, inspired by the Cao Dai
“As you can see with the eye motif on our various handcrafted products, we take a lot of inspiration from Vietnam and it's religious iconographies,” Hey Camel founder Leandro Marcelino told AnyArena. “The eye motif is inspired by the unique Vietnamese religion of Cao Dai. We were particularly inspired by the fact that Cao Dai is a mix of ideas from other religions; what we believe to be the essence of Hey Camel - an eclectic mix of ideas, cultures and art."
In the below pictorial by photographer Mike Pham, that eclecticism rises to the fore, with the brand’s new range of handmade teapots, plates, cups and vases featured alongside the many ‘hands’ of Hey Camel. It’s a cute, clever concept from the brand that has found a cosey home in District 3.
Says Leandro of the design; “The spots are inspired by minimalism in Japanese culture and the simplicity of small details, but it’s all about the colors and how they are all completely different from each other, and how you can create your own piece of art in the kitchen by adding different colors and textures.”
Hey Camel Ceramics is at 116/9A Tran Quoc Toan, D3
