Vo Trong Nghia’s Bamboo Paradise
Cat Ba To Get 'Castaway' Resort in 2017
VTN Architects have released images of their bamboo ‘castaway’ paradise, now under construction on an island part of the Cat Ba Archipelago off Hai Phong.
Set to include five private hut accommodations, a large restaurant and sweeping pavilion, the resort is scheduled for completion in summer 2017, meaning this level of immersive, island vacationing could be yours very soon. Only reachable by boat and utilising traditional Vietnamese methods that include soaking bamboo in mud and then smoking it, the thatched, curved roofs are constructed from a local variety known as ‘tam vong’. Eighty straight bamboo poles make up each hut, making their undulating, rhythmical curves a reality.
Views from the pavilion and restaurant are stunning, and with a guest capacity of 160, we don't think it'll take long to become another 'must-do' in Vietnam. A nod to the past, with a clear vision of how island life really should be. Only question is, where do we book?
