Music Promoting in Saigon for Dummies
Feeling the urge to held a dance party in Saigon? why not, all cool kids are doing it these days right?
well, follow these steps and you too can be a DJ/Promoter and in no time groupies will be fighting over you.
1. Get yourself equipped to the internet.
2. Get a Facebook account.
3. Get a Flickr account to generate a random event flyer, preferably some hot sexy chick if you promote House, and Electro, thugs posing with guns if Hip Hop tickles you...and so on.
4. Create and event on FB, It is essential that you attach words like "Best Music", "Funkies Tunes", "Freshest DJ", "...is pionneer..", "International DJ" (if you are from overseas), "Professional" (dont worry if you only know how to use itunes to select tunes instead of the decks, the party goers wont know that and they wont fact check you, if you think you are professional DJ, then it must be true)
5. Invite everyone and his dog to you event.
6. For the next couple of days just go out and terrorize people with your infomation about your coming event, fear does wonders, threaten them if they dont come you will defriend them on Facebook, people are insecured about losing friends, especially the one that made on internet. It is a good idea to send personal messages to the people that click on "Not Attending" to guilt trip them.
7. It is not essential that you know how to dj to be a DJ in Saigon, so on the party night use secret weapons such as Virtual DJ to auto beatmatch for you, also its a great idea to play a premixed CD from a famous DJ to rock the crowd. It is VERY IMPORTANT though that you spend hours and hours to practise your DJ pose to make sure you look good while playing the premixed CD or while the software mixes for you, after all people can tell that you are not a good DJ if your pose is wrong.
Some tips too look good include, squeezing your eyebrows as it suggests you are concentrating hard to mix. Wave your hands in the air like you just dont care. Have a cigarrette hanging just by the tip of your lips, it says that you are too cool to care....the possiblities are endless
8. Have fun Rocking the crowd..
