HOLDING A CERTAIN PLACE IN MY HEART

Whenever I perform somewhere outside of Saigon, there's all kinds of feelings you experience and memories worth remembering by.

This will be my fifth time performing in Hanoi. But each and every one of those five times, I've come to Hanoi to just perform because I don't have many close friends and family here and I've never even checked out Hanoi as a tourist. My first impression of Hanoi though is that it's very quaint, there's a lot of lakes, parks, and a whole lot more greenery than Saigon.

Anyone from the South who will come up to the North will find it quite refreshing with the weather out here. This time, I came just in time for autumn. So nice. I really like just walking around. And I like it even more so here because I can walk around in cool weather.

Whenever I'm out in the city, I like two things:  walking and eating. I find myself to be really lucky when I have such good friends in Hanoi and Hai Phong. They have been so nice to meet up and take me out whenever I'm out in Hanoi since meeting up with them is the first thing I think about when I come here.

It's such a joy: to hear how they love hearing a Southern girl's accent; or just wandering around the streets and taking in memories that have just happened; or eating at little restaurants at the corner of the streets, or wedged inside tight alleyways or sitting to drink "nhân trần" instead of "trà đá". And it's a joy, when the exchange of our language dialects is like a cultural exchange. Better yet, there's a lot more "joys" to look forward to, to wait for, to remember by and to come across again. And to my friends, remember, you guys needs to come to Saigon to visit me too!
