This convivial spot is the third eatery from Thy and Alexander Egert, the team behind nightspot Vasco's and French fine-dining restaurant Camargue. Café Evita is a longtime An Phu institution, popular with families and, from Monday to Friday, teachers from the nearby British International School. Expect a bright, welcoming space with cozy patterned couches and armchairs, heaps of magazines and a casual bar. The owners often bring in live bands for special events. Delivery and takeout also available.

EAT
The menu is both extensive and eclectic, hopping around the globe to include Spanish, French, German, American and Italian dishes. The uniting factor? Homey comfort food. If you’re feeling bewildered by the array of choices, go for the pizza – the in-house brick oven churns out some very good pies. The job-themed sandwiches are also dependable; we’d recommend the “Director,” a mouth-watering combination of beef, bacon, lettuce and feta cheese in a baguette. Afterwards, head to the chilled dessert cabinet, which is full of slices of rich cake and other tempting treats.

DRINK
Well-stocked with beer, wine and a solid cocktail list. Good coffee and excellent lattes.
