Nationalities don’t tend to mean as much as they used to in this age of globalisation. Nevertheless, it still comes as a slight surprise to find that the best authentic Neapolitan pizzas in Ho Chi Minh City are the responsibility, not of an Italian, but a Japanese.

Having developed a passion for traditional wood-fired beauties in his native Tokyo, Yosuke Masuko has shaken up Saigon’s previously slightly moribund pizza scene with this marvellous venture.

The chic, contemporary space gives a pleasing first impression but it is the quality of the pizzas that linger longest in the memory. The crispy yet slightly chewy bases are of perfect texture while the toppings – choose from classic Italian numbers such as Margarita and an impeccable Quattro Fromagio to Japanese fusion creations like teriyaki and marinated beef – are judiciously applied and bolstered by the use of creamy homemade mozzarella.

Throw in a comprehensive wine list and a good selection of beers and you have the recipe for an uplifting evening out.

PROMOTIONS & EVENTS
