Translated as ‘Emperor Kitchen’, Yu Chu is the InterContinental Asiana Saigon’s signature restaurant. A perfect marriage of contemporary style decor and culinary spectacle with authentic Cantonese and Peking cuisine. As diners look on, the Chef prepares hand-pulled noodles, fresh dim sum and hot wok dishes within the open, impeccably designed show kitchen. Guests can see flashing steel knives and fiery explosions from open gas burners which they operate dextrously with their knees.
The lunch menu includes traditional favourites such as Pot Stickers, large Cauldron-like Soup Tureens with a new special “Soup of The Day” presented daily, and richly marinated barbecued delights.
At dinnertime, chefs take up position at the entrance to greet diners with noodles pulled with a personal touch, and additions to the extensive lunch menu include a number of Peking specialties like aromatic crispy Peking duck, and Cantonese dishes such as Drunken Chicken, and succulent drunken prawns.
China’s rich tea tradition is central to the experience: Yu Chu's premium selection of China’s five big teas – White, Yellow, Flower, Oolong and Green tea – are served in ‘Gaiwan’, a covered bowl used for the infusion and consumption of tea first created during the Ming dynasty and considered by many tea connoisseurs to be the preferred method for brewing teas.
