The Picture Will Still Exist

Selected works from Post Vidai Collection
Post Vidai and Địa Projects are pleased to present The Picture Will Still Exist, an assemblage featuring photographs, paintings and video works selected from the Post Vidai Collection. The exhibition showcases eight established and emerging Vietnamese artists including Dinh Q. Le, Hoang Duong Cam, Howard Henry Chen, Le Quy Tong, Ngoc Nau, Phuong Linh, The Propeller Group and Vo An Khanh. A number of artworks, such as Dinh Q. Le’s WTC in four moments (2014), The Propeller Group’s AK-47 vs. M16 (2015) and Phuong Linh’s Sanctified Clouds (2012-2015), will be on display for the first time ever to the Vietnamese public.
Once a photograph is captured it freezes the moment. And it is this moment which will forever represent an angle of reality that the photographer determined to capture. Susan Sontag has argued that photographs are ‘memento mori’ or mortality, when they ‘testify to time’s relentless melt’. Photography is a medium that visual artists have been using as a way to reflect, analyze, fictionalize and even corrupt reality.
The Picture Will Still Exist demonstrates the prolificacy of Post Vidai, when the medium of photography can be appreciated in multiple aspects of one collection.
Exhibition Opening: Thursday, 22 June 2017 | From 6 PM - 9 PM
