ADIDAS X PALACE PRODUCE ‘PLANET EARTH’ PARODY FOR EQT LAUNCH
‘When We get There, Will there be Wifi ?’
This one made us giggle. In the face of so many sportswear campaigns espousing so much life-affirmation and #goalzz chasing-type spiritual 'wisdom', it’s nice to see a big brand have some fun.
Teaming up with skate label Palace, who previously did something similar for Reebok when they produced an hilarious 2 minute spot featuring Jonah Hill, this 57 second clip sees a velour track-suited runner in a number of different terrains, interspersed with cut-aways of ‘Planet Earth’ type footage. Standard stuff you might think, but accompanied by a voiceover that parodies the genre, it’s pure self-deprecation. 'Why did I agree to do this?' it asks, and ‘why didn’t I just catch the bus?’, before culminating in a tagline we won’t give away. We’re not sure what the overall strategy was on this one, but who cares, it’s a fun watch. Check it out.
