Balmainia To Break Out On The High Street With H&M
French Label Balmain Announces Men’s/Women’s H&M Collaboration
The fashion house’s young French designer, Olivier Rousteing, was in attendance too. There he announced Balmain’s intentions to break into the high street with men’s and women’s ranges for Swedish heavy hitters H&M.
It’s a big turnaround for the label once famed for it’s outrageously high prices under former creative director Christophe Decarnin (his roller coaster rock and roll tenure allegedly left him in a mental hospital).
This link up’s likely to help Balmain break further into Asia. In 2012 former Roberto Cavalli apprentice Rousteing opened their Hong Kong Harbour City store, and H&M opened its 3000th store in Chengdu, China, around the same time.
In ‘Anaconda’, Nicki Minaj’s lines go “He toss my salad like his name Romaine; And when he done, I make him buy me Balmain”. So her man will be happy too now he only needs to hit up his nearest H&M.
