Lookbook: THUC’s Tet in the Universe
Designer Embraces the Celestial This Lunar New Year
We’ve been following THUC for a while now. Last time we heard from her was back in October, when the very private designer released ‘A Room of One’s Own’ - a Lookbook collection of slightly more risque wearables than we’re used to seeing from her, and lashings of muted, constructed fabric. Since then, she’s clearly had her head in the clouds, because just in time for Tet, she’s released 'Tet in the Universe', a compilation of collaged images that place this and some earlier work in the context of the unifying Asian themes of Sky, Earth and Humanity, along with what she describes as our ‘modern universal imagination’.
There are several nods to the traditional themes of Tet in there - some more subtle than others - and a narrative that had us thinking about a more innocent time of our lives, when fantasy play was a staple.
