Louis Vuitton X Supreme Collab in Paris
Global Phenom Reaches a New Zenith
“You can’t have the conversation of New York menswear without Supreme right now, because it’s a massive global phenomenon”. These are the words of no less than Louis Vuitton men’s artistic director Kim Jones, who launched the collaboration with a runway show in Paris yesterday. Featuring co-branded pieces ranging from denim and camouflage jackets to three styles of handbags, it’s another huge notch on the bedpost of the New York native skatewear brand.
“I used to work when I was at college unpacking boxes for Supreme at a company in London” said Jones, “so it’s something I’ve known all along in my life. I just feel that the strength of their graphic versus the strength of the Louis Vuitton graphic, and that kind of Pop Art feeling — it works together perfectly.”
The current love-in between the two fashion houses is a far cry from the year 2000, when LV sent the fledgling skate brand a cease and desist letter after it used a Vuitton-like monogram print and color patterns on its skateboards. Let bygones be bygones we say. Check out the results of their coming together below. What’s cooler than cool? Ice cold!
