First Look: Massimo Dutti
The Italian-inspired Store Slides Stylishly Into Town
Massimo Dutti slid into town this weekend with typical Italian insouciance. Which is confusing as the brand is entirely Spanish, and it has been since it was founded in 1985. And just in case you were about to try to slide into the designer’s DMs, don’t bother, because he doesn’t exist.
The imaginary fashion mogul had been concentrating on creating casual, classic men’s clothing up until 2004 when he (or rather the brand) launched a debut collection for boys and girls. Today, Dutti delivers a comprehensive line of Italian-inspired clothing, including the effortlessly chic women’s line you can find in the new 462 square meter single-floor store in the Vincom Dong Khoi. Like our favorite Dutti stores in Singapore and Hong Kong, this new shop’s interior has the same refined touches — warm walnut wood and brass, and a white leather accented interior. Already in store is the all-new A/W 2017 collection. For men, the looks take inspiration from Tuscany — the cultural Italian heartland and birthplace of the Renaissance — and includes suitably stylish, classically tailored clothing in Tuscan sun-dried reds that are echoed by ochres and olive greens. And for women, the brand innovated with a series of intense and exquisite urban looks.
Which all means you can cut back on those shopping trips to Singapore, say, and take a taxi over to Dong Khoi to style-up with these indelibly Italian-inspired clothes.
