Raf Simons X Calvin Klein. At Last.
Much Hyped First Collections are Finally Here.
Six months after it was announced that Belgian designer and former Dior Creative Director Raf Simons would be taking the helm at Calvin Klein, the results of the marriage made in brand heaven are finally beginning to show. The actual show, his first for the garment giant - and by now one of New York Fashion Weeks fashion’s hottest tickets, will stream live from 10am local time tomorrow (Feb. 10). Before then however, Simons has previewed the first ad campaign created under his supervision.
In the series of eight images, all produced by long-time collaborator Willy Vanderperre, Simons eschews the need to be overtly sexy in favour of a more ‘erudite’ aesthetic; models wearing iconic Calvin Klein pieces (jeans, white tees and briefs) while standing in front of some iconic American art.
"The city is always inspiring," Simons said earlier this year of his move to New York. "But I think when you are here all the time, it is inspiring in a different way, obviously. I can be very honest about it: both collections are going to relate very much to how I experience it. How I see it. How I have always seen it. And how I might want to see it.”
Having already overhauled the company logo, a revamped iteration of what had gone before, we’re looking forward to seeing what’s next from Simons and one of the world’s most popular labels.
