SUBOI: V-RAP QUEEN / OBAMA CHARMER / FACE OF KENZO X H&M
Saigon’s own is not going anywhere but up, up, up.
We’ll be the first to admit it: we cannot keep our eyes off her. Vietnam’s queen of rap has been at the forefront of the entertainment industry this year: she has rapped for the American president for crying out loud! She also rocked a carpool karaoke with VJ Dustin Phúc Nguyễn with a display of swag that we’ve come to expect from the trailblazing artist. And with rumours on the horizon of H&M headquarters coming to Saigon soon, it shouldn’t come as too big of a surprise that she’s been chosen as one of seven super-celebs to represent the campaign for Kenzo x H&M.
The likes of Rosario Dawson (actress and activist), Ryuichi Sakamoto (musician and composer) and most talked about Hip-Hop star of the year, Chance The Rapper, will join Suboi in front of the lense of world-famous photographer Jean-Paul Goude. In case you’re wondering, he’s the guy who broke the internet by combining the front cover of Paper Magazine with Kim Kardashian’s backside. Chloe Sevigny (actress), Iman (supermodel) and Xiutezcatl Martinez (activist) will also play a role in what has been built up as one of the biggest fashion reveals of the year.
If Goude’s words are anything to go by we can expect to see an adventurous exhibit of attitude, youth, energy, fun and (obviously) style. It almost sounds like the idea was conceived by Suboi herself. Whilst the collection will only arrive in stores worldwide on November 3, you can trust that we will be keeping our gaze firmly fixed on what the queen of V-rap will be up to next.
