The Emmys Red Carpet 2017
TV’s Celebration Of Itself Was A Stylish Affair
The Emmys are TV’s celebration...of themselves. But we’ll give them that, in this golden age of television. And we were fascinated by this year’s politically-charged event in which former White House press mess Sean Spicer braved this Stephen Colbert hosted show. But to be honest we’re as interested in what went on on the red carpet, just to see how the Emmy’s do things differently from the MTV awards which we brought to you a few weeks ago.
Zoe Kravitz, from Big Little Lies went for a rainbow feathered Dior dress. She came through with the show’s other stars, Nicole Kidman, Laura Dern, and Shailene Woodley who also sported some elegant event-wear, though we’re less sure about the show’s Reese Witherspoon and her satin dad jacket.
Which means we might have to give the team award to Westworld’s stars, Angela Sarafyan, Tessa Thompson, Jeffrey Wright, Jimmi Simpson and Evan Rachel Wood. Oprah looked ageless too in a black-trim trouser suit, before giving an award to The Handmaid’s Tale’s Elisabeth Moss for Best Drama Series. Issa Rae, creator and star of HBO’s Insecure, strode in wearing Vera Wang. And Anna Chlumsky, nominated for best supporting actress in a comedy series for Veep, had the shine of a mermaid in a fish-scaled Sachi and Babi ballgown. Plus Ru Paul manned-up in a diamond patterned black and white suit.
