The New District Millenialz: 5 Things Not To Miss
Catch this popular market's huge 2nd birthday celebration
To celebrate its second birthday, popular outdoor market The New District is expanding its horizons and laying on a fashion and retail extravaganza in Hanoi’s Creative City this weekend. Dubbed ‘the Millenialz’ it’s focus is on the needs and desires of Vietnam’s burgeoning youth, from social issues to style.
For the first time in the capital city the organisers will be laying on a runway show, supported by some of the coolest brands in the country. Bargain hunter fashionistas will also be pleased by a garage sale of pre-loved items from key online influencers, while snap happy selfie lovers can go wild in the themed photo booth. Below is our pick of the top five things not to miss:
Fashionistas walk the Runway
Hanoi’s first New District runway will have four key themes: sport it up, victim blaming, equality and open mindedness, all with the aim of addressing the biggest concerns and aspirations of the millennial generation. The show starts at 7pm and runs until 7.30 on Saturday (17 June).
Debut collections from Our Favorite Brands
As well as well known labels, The New District will also feature debut, limited edition collections from new brands on the cutting edge of Vietnamese fashion. These include Freakers, Nirvana, the Beauter and 5THEWAY. Get in quick while stocks last.
New product line by Bitis Hunter
Coveted local sneaker makers Bitis Hunter will be bringing along its new product line over the weekend, showcasing some of its freshest and most colourful designs to date that will make us all want to hit the gym.
The Garage Sale
Money savvy fashion addicts will likely be beside themselves with joy at The New District’s Garage Sale, where key influencers from Facebook and Instagram like Salim (@salimhwg) and Quynh Anh Shyn (@quynhanhshyn_) will be flogging their old garb at rock-bottom prices. Expect a scrum.
The New District never fails to go all-out with its photo booth backdrops (last year’s was a dreamy barnyard that had snappers jostling for space). This year’s theme is still under-wraps, but we do know the team will be collaborating with Bitis Hunter. Tag your pics with the hashtag #TNDStreetstyle.
