First Look: Gà Ô Concept Store
Quality craftsmanship unites Vietnam first collection
Gà Ô is a truly patriotic enterprise. Contrasting starkly with its neighbour, Saigon’s famous (or perhaps infamous) Ben Thanh market, the store is a showcase for only the highest quality and most unique Vietnamese fashion and accessories.
From luxurious, individually made silk ao dai’s from Hoang Thi to cutting edge menswear from Moi Dien, to stunning handmade leather accessories from Cao Cuero, everything in Gà Ô exudes a sense of timeless elegance and careful craftsmanship fused with modern design.
“People know Vietnam is a manufacturer, but not necessarily one of quality. I want to change that; to show both locals and foreigners that we can stand next to Japan or Korea in the modernity of our design and quality of our workmanship,” says Gà Ô founder Cang Nguyen.
This sense of contemporary meets traditional is promoted by the interior of the store, which uses light coloured wood contrasted against a grey concrete floor to create a natural, yet minimalist atmosphere that helps shoppers relax and no doubt open their wallets to snap up the collection.
AnyArena’s verdict: An ambitious and elegant collection of high quality, often unique Vietnamese designs. The menswear and accessories are the highlights.
The Look: A tranquil space for quiet perusing.
