FIRST LOOK: HERITAGE CONCEPT CHILL HUB
A coffee shop that feels like home
If you think there’s a lot of coffee shop-slash-workspaces in town already, you’re right, there are, but look to the outskirts, and you’ll be hard pressed to find one with as good a productive vibe or as much space to take advantage of it as Heritage Concept Chill Hub along Vo Van Kiet in District 1.
Setting up shop outside the hustle of the inner city, and built out of two old heritage Saigon homes, AnyArena caught up with owner Tan Huynh, a.k.a Ken, and talked about what inspired the location, its’ minimalist design and what to expect from the space he’s taken up in the future...
Can you share the idea behind Heritage?
Ken: We wanted to create a spacious, relaxing environment that you can ease into immediately and work on your projects. There’s a generous intake of natural air and light inside the space that we think inspires better creativity and comfort. Why squeeze yourself into a suffocating box in district one when you can come here instead?
What makes Heritage Concept Chill Hub different from other work spaces?
Ken: My three years of experience in the F&B industry has taught me that the most important thing is to generate and sustain your own unique ambience. Any concept will be plagiarized by competitors, but what they can’t copy is the quintessential vision and values of a place. I know the cultured, creative audience that I’m aiming for have good taste, and will see Heritage as a home, where they want to spend time for a cup of coffee after a long trip back to Saigon.
What was your inspiration behind the location and the design of Heritage?
Ken: Much of the interior design details are inspired by a friend close to my heart. The stained-glass panels on the ceiling are a homage to the Catholic churches of her religion, and the sunflower on the middle panel is her favorite flower. The whole space is white, a reflection of her uniquely serene soul amid a world full of crazy. All the things you see here exude her sense of peace, zen, and of being close to nature.
What can we expect from Heritage in the future?
Ken: From this month, we’ll bring to life an evening pub that’s quite different from what you see here during the day. In the mornings, what you’re looking for is a relaxing and quiet work environment, but in the evening it’s about unwinding and dancing after a long day; but also staying true to our ‘Chill Hub’ concept. We’ll start serving afternoon teas and desserts soon.
Heritage Concept Chill Hub is at 190-192 Vo Van Kiet, D1.
