Artificial Intelligence Creates The Newest IT Couple
Chatbots Fall In Love?
You know when you’ve been dating so long you start inventing special names for your bae? Then you begin speaking in a special language shared only by you and yours? Well, that just happened...with two of Facebook’s chatbots.
First robots beat Gary Kasparov at chess. Then they learn the devilishly difficult art of ping pong. They even mastered relationships, as Joaquin Phoenix found out by falling in love with one in Spike Jonze’s ‘Her’ (probably because it was a Scarlett Johansson-voiced Siri). They’re even ‘racist assholes’, as Microsoft discovered. And now they’re falling in love.
As you may know, Facebook have for a while been ‘delving into the foggy world of artificial intelligence (AI) in order to have computer software programs called bots, take over sales and customer service functions on Facebook's Messenger platform’.
And so two of their romantic robots were getting along so well they started having conversations no one, except themselves, could understand. Fortunately Facebook quickly pulled the plug on the amorous artificial intelligentsia before they got a (chat) room.
