Obama Farewells. Suboi Appears in Tribute Video
Hang on, they elected who...?
The reality, (no pun intended) of what is about to happen in America is now dawning on not only the people who didn’t vote for him, but everyone else nervous about what a Trump presidency actually means. President Barack Obama, the coolest, calmest, blackest POTUS ever, is essentially on his farewell lap. Having given his official farewell speech today - still employing his rallying cry of ‘Yes we can’ to the very end - he is at this very moment likely waving goodbye to the White House and the people he stood for during eight years in the job. Promising to keep fighting the fight in his new role as private citizen and father, Obama wiped away tears while thanking his wife Michelle and two daughters Malia and Sasha for their support.
Moved by the change about to happen, celebrities have come forward to pay tribute to the Obama years in a video called ‘Yes we can: your most memorable moments from the Obama presidency.’ Including appearances by the likes of Hollywood hitters Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson and Tom Hanks, as well as singer John Legend and daytime TV host Ellen DeGeneres, who all recalled their favourite Obama moments, the video also features our very own Suboi, who recalled rapping with the president during his visit to Vietnam last year and what it meant to have been able to ask him a question.
Overall it’s a moving tribute to a great man, who used his final speech to call for unity, and to ask people one more time to believe not only in the ability of one man to bring about change, but in their own.
Sad to see you go Mr. Obama, can we get a rewind? Check out the tribute video and his full farewell speech below:
