The BittBoy Is A Supercute Reinvention Of The Gameboy
Lose Your Life To Tetris Again With The Tiny Bittboy Console
You’d walk out of the job in a minute if someone asked to build a wall that kept disappearing only to be rebuilt (by you!) every time a layer was finished. But, that was the basic premise of Tetris for the Gameboy.
Wired magazine once did an exposé on how the game was rooting itself in our brains called ‘This is your brain on Tetris’. They even discovered that the game’s launch had been put in doubt after creator, Alexey Pajitnov, got instantly addicted playing his own invention before he’d even finished the code.
You might be too young to remember the monochrome madness of the brick building game the first time around. But the BittBoy is here to give you a second chance to experience that awful addiction and those crippling thumb cramps.
Not exactly a relaunch, the BittBoy is a third-party portable console that still does bear an uncanny resemblance to the original Gameboy, except for its size — this super-small piece of pocket technology is just 4 inches tall. Also differing from the original, here rather than switch in a cartridge to change the game, here 300 are already built-in. It charges via microUSB and is all yours, should you wish to lose all your social ties, for $39.99.
