This Is What Wes Anderson and Quentin Tarantino Shot Food Tutorials Look Like
Director David Ma Makes Instructional Vids As Famous Filmmakers
The kind of food tutorials filling out our Facebook feed are perfect for our attention-span challenged age. Food gets chopped, diced and fried at hyper-speed with big easy-to-read names of each ingredient as it appears on screen.
Granted, we never made any of them but that’s probably because, to our aesthetically sensitive eyes, they were lacking an auteur’s attention to detail in the director’s chair. Helpfully, food artist (no, we didn’t know that was an actual job either) and director David Ma has reimagined the ‘chewtorial’ through the eyes of some of our favorite filmmakers.
Wes Anderson cooks up a quirky batch of s’mores, Quentin Tarantino puts some tomatoes to the sword while trashing the kitchen making his spaghetti and meatballs, ‘Gravity’ director Alfonso Cuaron creates some pancakes in zero gravity, and ‘Transformers’ Michael Bay has flour explosions and toppling towers of treacle-topped waffles.
Watch David Ma’s highly entertaining reinvention of the food tutorial below.
