Watch 1,069 Synchronised Robots Dance Their Way To A Guinness World Record
‘Gobi’ And Friends Can Dance, Talk And Even Perform Tai Chi
Watch with wonder as 1,069 robots break the, slightly niche, record for ‘Most Robots Simultaneously Dancing’. Of course, this kind of madness could only kick off in China, specifically Guangzhou, the endless port city just over the border from Hong Kong.
WL Intelligent Technology Co. Ltd birthed the idea for this slightly disturbing but amusing project, which used one massive group control system to guide the robots to victory. For ease of identification, all of the ‘performers’, yes, all 1,069, were named ‘Gobi’. And each one possessed their own exotic skillset, including talking and even doing tai chi. Why droids would need to de-stress with the ancient Chinese martial art is lost on us, but still, it made for a beautiful synchronous sight.
Sadly, not all the robots succeeded. For some of them, their feeble attempts at fame faded as they tragically toppled over. However, 1,069 dancers did complete the challenge, and you can see them in action, and maybe pick up a move or two, below.
