Vietnam-based teams rush to take part in mini-film spectacular.jpg)
After last year’s enthralling first Vietnam instalment, the race has begun in earnest for this year’s edition of the 48-Hour-Film Project.
The contest, which takes place in Hanoi over the weekend of October 14th and in Ho Chi Minh City over the weekend of November 4, is already filling up with teams willing to do battle for the $3,000 Grand Prize and the opportunity to have their mini-movie screened at an international short film festival and at the world-famous Cannes Film Festival in France.

The gist of the competition is that it pits groups of filmmakers in a race against time to produce a completed four to seven minute movie in just two days.
With sleepless nights and fraught emotions all but assured, it is not a contest for the faint hearted. On Friday night teams get a character, a prop, a line of dialogue and a genre all to include in the movie. 48 hours later the film must be complete.
Last year’s contest saw the affecting film One Fine Day to Die by the Young Media team win the top award and this year’s instalment should be no less competitive.
This year’s panel of judges include world-renowned Australian director Philip Noyce as guest judge. Noted local directors Nguyen Vinh Son and Nguyen Quang Dung will join him.
