Luxury Make Up Brand Launches at Parkson

On Friday, June 10, French luxury brand Dior toasted the launch of its first beauty counter in Vietnam, in Parkson Plaza on Le Thanh Ton Street. Saigon’s beautiful people sipped champagne, watching as makeup artists demonstrated classic Dior looks: show-stopping red lips and sexy, smoky eyes.

Beauty junkies know Christian Dior was one of the first couturiers to design perfume and makeup to complete his looks, spraying the original “Miss Dior” scent at his first show in 1947. He said, “A woman’s perfume tells more about her than her handwriting.” Soon after, came his first lipstick, an elegant, deep red, given only as a gift to important customers.

Thankfully, we’re all now able to get our hands on the products. We sat down with Marine Guillaume-Blanchet, a marketing director for Dior, to get a few more details about what’s on offer.

What is the inspiration behind the current line of colours?

We launch new colour collections each season. This summer, it’s been inspired by our cruise collection. It’s a combination of beige tones and warm colours with a touch of blue. For our fall look [available beginning in August], the inspiration is taken from a tuxedo suit – the combination of matte and shiny textures. We’re bringing out a set of eyeshadows that does both.

What makes Dior makeup unique?

I think we have exceptional textures. Either makeup or skin care, our key success is testing. When you try it, you love the texture—they’re pleasant to apply.

What is the beauty item that you really can’t live without?

I have a particular attachment to a perfume that is part of the Dior La Collection Prive – it’s called “New Look.” I find the scent very unique and surprising – you smell it around the person, not on the person. It’s not available yet in Vietnam but it’s coming!
