Art In The Streets

Exhibition at the MOCA Gallery L.A

The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Los Angeles has unveiled its highly anticipated “Art in the Streets” exhibition. The first of its kind in the U.S., the exhibition traces the history and development of graffiti and street art from the 1970s to present day. Installations and works by more than 50 of the world’s most dynamic street artists will be on display including pieces by Fab 5 Freddy, Lee Quiñones, Futura, Margaret Kilgallen, Swoon, RISK, Shepard Fairey, John-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, JR and Mister Cartoon. Emphasis will also be placed on photographers and filmmakers who documented graffiti and street art culture including Spike Jonze, Terry Richardson, Martha Cooper and Ed Templeton.

While some hardcore fans and fundamentalists believe street art and graf can’t be brought indoors, the MOCA certainly tried its damn well best to.  Feast your eyes on the pics below.
