Converse Smiles

Two new designs celebrate the classic Jack Purcell

New shoes make you smile…but only one pair can actually smile back. The iconic Jack Purcell sneaker from Converse, known for its signature “smile” across the toe, is turning 75, and still going strong. Originally designed in the 1930’s by Canadian badminton champ Jack Purcell as an athletic shoe, its now an icon and boasts fans like James Dean, Kurt Cobain and the Beatles.

To celebrate, Converse has unveiled two new variations on the canvas classic. The Johnny is a contemporary take on the Purcell, with a repositioned logo, washed canvas upper and stitched accents. Meanwhile, the Helen is the first of the Purcell line designed specifically for women. It’s named after Jack’s wife and features a super slim shape that’s just right with skinny jeans or a cute, sporty skirt.

These days, you’re more likely to spot Purcells at a trendy gallery of café than on the badminton court.

The Johnny & Helen collection is now available on Converse stores across the country. To find your closest store visit www.converse.com.vn
