Crescent Mall Open
New D7 mall boosts Saigon's shopping scene.jpg)
Saigon, as we know, is no slouch when it comes to providing scope for retail therapy. It is true, however, that Vietnam’s southern hub lags behind regional counterparts such as Bangkok and Manila in terms of its large scale shopping options.
That’s why the long-awaited recent unveiling of the city’s latest mall – the Crescent Mall in Saigon South – has created a fairly potent buzz.

The VND2.31 billion development is strategically located on Nguyen Van Linh Parkway, and offers approximately 45,000sq m of retail space – a significant amount of room when you consider the diminutive nature of many of the city’s existing shopping centres.
As of this moment, the mall has barely scratched the surface of its full potential with a fraction of retailers having opened for business. Nevertheless, the Mall already boasts an impressive cast list with international brands such as Gap, DKNY, Diesel, F.O.S and French Connection catering to fashion forward shoppers.
Coming attractions include a Megastar cine complex, a huge supermarket, a 1100-seat food court destined to be one of the largest of its kind in Vietnam and a games space for the young and the young at heart.
There will also be a wide range of food and beverage stores available, including Gloria Jeans Coffees, Bread Talk, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Phuc Long Tea & Coffee, MOF, and MK Hotpot.
Rupert Provest, director of agency for Savills Vietnam, the property firm responsible for leasing retail space in the mall, commented: “The intention is to provide a destination like nowhere else in Ho Chi Minh City, where family and friends can gather to enjoy shopping, dining, and entertainment, in a relaxed and serene lake front environment.”
