Last year, Matt Cantor from the U.K Breakbeat phenomenon "Freestylers", had over a thousand people going absolutely nuts at Hifi Club in Ho Chi Minh City, as he dropped some atomic beats. This weekend, he's back better than ever and will be tearing up the brand new club “Tokyo” in Distict 5 on Saturday 22nd Jan.

 

The "Freestylers" have been rocking clubs and parties for over a decade now and are still one of the most exciting names in dance music. The boys have had Top 20 chart hits, headlined major festivals, sold half a million albums and toured the US with Lenny Kravitz.

 

 

Their sound is rooted in Hip Hop but has evolved into a unique British concoction, taking in everything from Dancehall to Reggae, Electro to Soul and Breakbeat to Drum and Bass. “Our sound is pretty raw, raw and very instant. Basically it’s like breaks for the masses, but as we’ve both got pretty eclectic tastes we bring a whole spectrum of influences from the seventies onwards”. “Hip hop heads come to see us, but so do ravers, reggae fans… it’s quite mad really - two funky white boys bringing all these people together” states Matt.

 

The unique blend of party sounds has seen them perform everywhere from Ibiza to Ipswich, Prague to Peterborough, finding time to wow the crowd at Glastonbury and tour America along the way.
