Lieu Nguyen Exhibition

New paintings At CT Gallery
Lieu Nguyen’s impressionistic puffs of cherry blossoms make us remember life as a kid, looking up through the branches of flowering trees. The HCM City-based painter has an eye for colours that give his work the happy, lazy feeling of a summer afternoon.

After a long wait, the CT Gallery, located down a tranquil little alley in District 1, has just received some new pieces from the artist. We’d recommend that you head down to see them in person – as you stand in front of Nguyen’s paintings, thousands of small, dynamic brushstrokes work in concert to create a calming, dreamy effect.

Nguyen’s work was featured in New York Magazine when he participated in the city’s Affordable Art Fair, a venue for emerging artists. He has been exhibiting since 1996, and graduated from Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts University in 2001.

“I first met Lieu at a party some friends of mine had at their house,” says gallery owner Craig Thompson. “I went to see his work at a group exhibition at the Fine Arts University that he was participating in and was sold immediately.” Thomas says preparations are beginning for a solo show for Nguyen late this year.
