Who is Antoneus Maximus ?

I am a Vietnamese born American artist/producer/songwriter who is not afraid of pushing the envelope. I like to be different from the norm and can be off the wall at times. I have recorded, produced, collaborated, and performed with artist such as (Time for some name dropping…lol)  : Apl De Ap (Black Eyed Peas), DJ Motiv8 (Black Eyed Peas), Dante Santiago (Black Eyed Peas), Kurupt (Dogg Pound), KID (Kid n Play), Fishbone, Ceelo Greene (Gnarls Barkley), Baby Bash, and many more.

How would you describe your sound?

I describe my sound as a Funky Hip Hop R&B Reggae Explosion going off at the same time.

What is the first song that you remember really affecting you?

Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”

When did you realise that you wanted to be a musician?

I realized that I wanted to be a musician after listening to Michael Jackson for the first time.

What/who are your music influences?

My music influences are: Bob Marley, Earth Wind and Fire, Stevie Wonder, Parliament, The Beatles, Black Eyed Peas, Tupac Shakur, Naughty By Nature, Kid n Play, Lauren Hill and D’Angelo.

Life Influences?

My mom and good friends.

Favorite song to dance to?

"Rain on Me" by Mark anthony and Pitbull

Cry to?

“It’s So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday” by Boyz to Men.

What music are you sick of hearing?

Sick of hearing music that is fake…when an artist claims to be somebody that they are not…it annoys the hell out of me…lol. Nowadays my music is about letting go, being yourself, and having fun.

If you could collaborate with anyone living or dead, who would it be?

Bob Marley, Michael Jackson and Outkast.

So far what has been your weirdest on stage experience?

When a mother and her daughter both flashed me while I was performing on stage at the Sundance Film Festival (and the mother was NOT good looking).

Do you have any pre show rituals?

I put myself in a zone before I go on stage.

What do you like about the music scene in Vietnam?

I like the fact that it has advanced a little bit in every genre.

Anything you dislike?

I hate fake ass people who come at me sideways and always have a motive for everything. I hate meeting people for the first time and the first thing they ask you is “Hey, so what do you do?”

How would you describe the size of your ego?

HUGE

I just want to let people know that I’m a very approachable guy. You can always come up to me and say “What’s up”. Don’t let the hair scare ya.
