Interview with Aussie Electro DJ Duo NERVO

Australia’s hottest sister act will be bringing their razor sharp fashion sense and chunky electro beats to Vietnam for the first time this Thursday 13th October @ Lush. Nervo, twin sisters Mim and Liv, have taken the pop world by storm after writing smash hits for some of the biggest artists on the planet. With artists such as David Guetta, Ke$ha, Miley Cyrus, Kylie Minogue and the Pussycat Dolls on their resume – the Aussie DJ duo have had sell-out tours across the US and recently released the hit single "We’re All No One” with Dutch superstar Afrojack and Steve Aoki.

Inspired by the likes of Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx and The Chemical Brothers, combined with a passion for working with rising local talent – superstar sisters Liv and Mim certainly aren’t afraid to push their creative boundaries. The drop dead gorgeous dynamic duo are also regarded as prime party-starters in their own right, as their deep and dirty sounds have gone down a storm at legendary dates such as Space, Ibiza and Miami’s Ultrafest among others, so their appearance at Lush this Thursday is set to explode.

AnyArena caught up with the blonde bombshells, to chat about modeling, music and their upcoming gig in Vietnam.

You started your careers in fashion before moving into music. Can you tell us what prompted such a move so early in your careers? We started music a lot earlier than fashion. We started playing piano when we were 7 years old and were in choirs from as early as we can remember. Fashion came later at around 17 years old. It's great bc now we can mix the two together. We like wearing different clothes when we DJ and now we do photoshoots for our DJing which is great.

Although you are famous in your own right, you are best known for writing hits for other artists. Are you happy with that and was it a conscious decision to stay in the shadows?
It was always our intention to stay behind the scenes and to write for others. We love that our songs for others have become successful. We now have the opportunity to release things under our own name which is again exciting so we're going with it. So far the reaction has been positive which is great. We're still very much involved behind the scenes though, we're wrote 'Night Of Your Life' for David Guetta's current album and have a lot of records coming out through some american pop stars so stay tuned.

Your careers have taken you far and wide. Have you ever been to Vietnam before and what are you most looking forward to about playing here? Do you think you’ll get much of a chance to check out the country?
This is our 1st time to Vietnam and we are SO excited! We really enjoy touring Asia and experiencing 1st hand the differences between all of countries and cultures. We especially like tasting all of the food. We're looking forward to experiencing club culture in Vietnam.

You are twins and you have followed almost identical career paths. Do you ever get sick of each other and are either of you ever tempted to strike out alone?
We are sisters, business partners and best friends. Yes, we sometime have disagreements but all in all, we're better as a team than on our own. We work really well together and it's always nice to have a friend on the road with you.

Nervos Hit new single - “ We’re All No One” Feat Afrojak & Steve Aoki

Your songs have been performed by stars such as David Guetta, Kylie Minogue and Adam Lambert. Who have you most enjoyed working with and who is best at delivering your material?
It's impossible to pick our favorite pop star or DJ to work with/for. They're all special for their own reason. We were really taken back at how talented Afrojack and Avicii are. They both use a different program to us, they use Fruity Loops, so we were dumfounded at how quick they both were! We love working with a range of vocalists bc then we can get lots of different flavours into our music. We feel very lucky to work with such fantastic people.

You signed a deal with Virgin EMI that enables you to release records by new artists you discover and produce. How exciting is that for you and who are your tips for the top?
Yes, it's very exciting! Our main tip is to stay true to yourself and work hard. The harder you work the luckier you get!

What’s the future for Nervo? Do you see yourselves pushing for more fame as performing artists?
The future of NERVO is to keep writing and releasing music. And of course tour at the same time. We want to let the music speak for itself and hope that it moves people in the way it moves us. We love our job and hope to spread the NERVO love.
