Tam Ta
Hanoi Group Exhibition at San ArtTam Ta’, a group exhibition of five contemporary artists from Hanoi opened thursday 30th sept at san art gallery.

Curated by pioneering artist and curator, Tran Luong, hosted by San Art and supported by Bui Gallery, Hanoi with participating artists: Vu Hong Ninh, Nguyen Huy An, Nguyen Van Phuc, Nguyen Tran Nam and Nguyen Manh Hung.
In this exhibition a particular imagination is given space to play with Nguyen Tran Nam’s near life-size human figures resting on balls as feet; Vu Hong Ninh’s over-sized baby, made from soap, stands defiant; Nguyen Huy An’s shadows wreak havoc with ink and charcoal; Nguyen Van Phuc’s star light stands propped by a set of crutches; while Nguyen Manh Hung’s ghostly body-less figures hang from the ceiling.
This is the first significant exhibition of art from Hanoi, since 2006, to be seen in Ho Chi Minh City by contemporary artists of the 1970s and 1980s generation. This touring exhibition, which opened at Bui Gallery in Hanoi in July, is an important opportunity for local audiences to see the artistic ideas emerging from the country’s capital as it is also rare for artists in Vietnam to have the chance to show their work across the country, due to lack of funding with few arts organizations able to host.
San Art is one of 3 venues for this touring exhibition, which will be on view until 13 November. Its next venue will be New Space Arts in Hue.
