To HCM City with Love

Installation at San Art celebrates local artists

Head down to San Art in Binh Thanh district for ‘To Ho Chi Minh City with Love: A Social Sculpture’, an innovative installation by New York-based artist Phong Bui. It’s the first trip back to Vietnam since 1980 for the Hue-born Bui, and he’s taken the opportunity to celebrate the artistic talent here in HCM City.

Bui has transformed the San Art space into an interactive experience using the paintings, drawings, photographs, poetry, music and videos of local artists. Exploring the space, you’ll find paintings leaning on the floor instead of hung on the wall, and photographs usually framed at eye level placed up high so you have to stand on tiptoes to see them. Other artworks are hung on top of one another, creating large-scale collaborative sculptures.

Bui is an artist, writer and independent curator whose works have been exhibited in the USA, China, Greece and Italy.

Be sure to check out ‘To Ho Chi Minh City with Love” before it closes on June 30.
