Vietnamese Creative trio wins Ad Age Magazine Competition

The "Global Issue" cover of Advertising Age magazine was born during a late-night coffee break in Saigon. A kaleidoscope of interconnected logos designed by three co-workers at G2/Grey Group in HCM City beat out 369 other entries from 54 countries to win the mag’s annual cover contest.

Nguyen Tuong Luan, Nguyen An Hoa and Do Duy Thien, say their design didn’t come easy, though. Hitting dead ends in a late-night brainstorming session, the team hit the streets for a change of scenery. Looking up at the Cathedral’s stained glass window Luan noticed how small glass fragments came together to create a unified image, sparking the idea of using logos in a similar way to show how brands connect the world. "We trooped back to the office ... and by the wee hours of morning found ourselves staring at a winner,” Luan told Ad Age, which is the world’s most well-known advertising magazine.

From June 19 to 25, the trio will attend the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, where their design will be featured on billboards. Check out some the other entries from the 18 finalists below and see if you agree with the judges.
