Katy Perry Gets Chained To A Dystopian Nightmare
US Singer’s Comeback After a Hiatus From The Limelight
Oh Katy, you’re back, and the video for your new track has got tongues wagging. Rife with irony and jabs at the recent political climate in the US, the video for Perry’s new release ‘Chained To the Rhythm’ is her first work in three years. Deciding to take a break after being in the public’s eyes constantly for the previous five years, Katy announced her return by performing the song at this month’s Grammy Awards wearing an armband carrying the word ‘Persist’. The word has become a rallying cry for women in America since remarks were made by a male Senator about a female Senator’s vetting of Trump’s pick for US Attorney General.
In the video, Perry lives in the distorted dystopia of a disused fairground, where people queue up to ride a hamster wheel, non-white couples are launched over walls, and we’re all just generally complete robots living in a fake fantasy bubble. Sound familair? We hope not. As for the song, it's probably about 1min and 35 seconds too long, but we’ve heard worse! Welcome back Katy.
