Taylor Swift Drops New Song ‘Look What You Made Me Do’
Full Album ‘Reputation’ To Be Released 10th November
Taylor Swift is back with a new single ’Look What You Made Me Do’. And many followers have decided it’s a Kanye West diss track.
It’s another enigmatic release from the entertainer, after her already-infamous emergence from a social media shutdown with a string of snake emojis. As well as the single, and her return to Twitter, Swift announced her first full album in three years, ‘Reputation’, to be released 10th November.
On the new track, Swift’s lyrics take a dark and eerie turn, with lines like, “I’m sorry, the old Taylor can't come to the phone right now. Why? Oh, because she’s dead.” With foreboding synths, and strange piano chords, Swift goes on to sing about karma, people who "laugh when they lie", and a list of names that she keeps.
Whether the song is a delayed counterpunch to Kanye’s claim to have kickstarted Swift’s career on his 2006 track ‘Famous’, and the later controversy that the rapper cleared the lyrics with her before its release isn’t entirely clear. Take a peek at her lyric video below, directed by Joseph Kahn, and see what you think. And be sure to tune into ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’ this Friday for a first chance to see a clip of the song's full video.
